Privacy Policy

1. Definitions

"Application" means the Phrased mobile application and all associated features, tools, and updates.

"Company," "We," "Us," or "Our" means Phrased, the operator of the Application.

"Device" means any Android device used to access the Application.

"Screen Content" means the visual content of your Device's screen at the moment you tap the floating bubble, captured as a screenshot image.

"You" means the individual using the Application.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Name and email address, collected when you register via Google, Facebook, or email
• Texting personality preferences captured during onboarding

Usage Data

• Number of AI reply suggestions generated per billing period, used solely to enforce plan limits
• Subscription status and transaction history, processed via Google Play Billing
• Aggregate feature usage (e.g., which tabs you use) — not the content of any interaction

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not store, log, or retain screenshots or the content of your conversations
• Contact names, phone numbers, or identifiers from your messaging apps
• Location data of any kind

3. Screen Capture and Processing

The core function of Phrased requires the ability to read the conversation visible on your screen. This is how it works:

• Screenshots are transmitted securely (HTTPS/TLS) to Anthropic's API for processing
• Screenshots are not stored, logged, or retained by Phrased or Anthropic after reply suggestions are generated
• We do not use screenshots or conversation content to train AI models
• No conversation data persists after your session ends
• You are shown an Android system confirmation dialog before screen capture begins each session, and you may decline at any time
• Screenshots are compressed and scaled down before transmission to minimize data transfer

You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate authorization to capture and process screen content that may include messages from other people.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To generate AI reply suggestions based on the conversation visible on your screen
• To personalize reply tone based on your onboarding personality preferences
• To enforce usage limits associated with your subscription plan
• To restore purchases and manage your subscription state
• To communicate with you about your account where necessary

We do not use your information to train AI models. We do not sell your information to any third party. We do not display advertisements.

5. Third-Party Services

Phrased integrates with the following third-party services. Each is governed by its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

• Anthropic — receives screenshots of your screen to analyze conversations and generate reply suggestions. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train models by default. Screenshots are not retained after processing. See anthropic.com/privacy.
• Supabase — hosts our database, storing account information, tone preferences, and reply counts. See supabase.com/privacy.
• Google Play Billing — processes subscription payments. We do not receive or store your payment details. See policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Permissions We Request

• Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — required to render the floating bubble on top of messaging apps
• Screen capture (MediaProjection) — required to capture a screenshot of your screen when you tap the bubble. Android presents a system confirmation dialog before every capture session
• Internet — required to transmit screenshots to the AI API and to sync your account
• Foreground service — required to keep the floating bubble active while you use other apps

All permissions are used solely for the functions described above. You may revoke screen capture permission at any time by dismissing the system dialog or disabling the overlay service from within the Application.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

• Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active
• Reply counts reset monthly in accordance with your billing cycle
• Screenshots exist in memory only during active processing and are discarded immediately after suggestions are returned — they are never written to disk or stored on any server
• You may delete your account at any time via Settings, which permanently and irreversibly removes all personal data we hold about you

8. Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@phrased.app and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, or to submit a privacy-related inquiry, contact us at privacy@phrased.app. We aim to respond within five business days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide notice within the Application or by email before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Application after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
